Shooting in NL
Productions with We Are Will range from about EUR 10,000 for a compact one day shoot to several hundred thousand euros for large commercials that run for several days. Plenty of shoots sit in between, at around EUR 50,000 to 70,000, depending on what the shoot needs. Where your project lands depends on a handful of things, and we are happy to be open about them.
What drives the budget
Shoot days
The biggest factor. Every extra day adds crew, equipment, locations and catering.
Crew size
From about 5 people for a small shoot to more than 100 for a large commercial. Bring your own director and DOP and we fill in the rest with Dutch crew, which saves travel and hotel costs.
Locations
A street in Utrecht costs less than a closed bridge in Amsterdam. Private locations charge a fee; some public ones are almost free apart from the permit.
Permits and closures
Road closures, water and drones take more time and more money. Plan at least 10 working days for a permit in a big city.
Cast
Leads, extras, children and speciality talent, plus buyouts for the media and territories you need. One country online for a year costs a lot less than worldwide TV forever.
Studio and equipment
Camera package, lighting, grip, special rigs. The rental houses are close by in Amsterdam and Rotterdam.
Catering and insurance
Everyone on set eats and needs to be insured. Small items on their own, but together they add up.
Travel and accommodation
For crew, agency, client and talent.
Post-production
Edit, grade, VFX and sound, if we do it. More versions and cut downs for social add to the bill.

Ways to save
Choose locations close together, so you travel less and shoot more.
Shoot in a smaller city with the same look as Amsterdam.
Combine film and stills on the same days, as we did for Dior and PUMA.
Be flexible on dates outside the busy summer months.

Film incentives
The Netherlands Film Production Incentive gives a cash rebate to qualifying feature films, documentaries, animation and series.
Commercials do not qualify. We can tell you quickly whether your project does.
