Shooting in NL

The Netherlands packs a lot into a small country. Most of the locations below are within two hours of Amsterdam, which means fewer travel days and more shooting days. We keep a database of locations across the country and have a direct line with many owners, so we can often send options the same week.

What you will find

Amsterdam, Utrecht, Leiden, Delft and Haarlem: narrow houses, bridges, bikes and water. Amsterdam is the icon but also the busiest; Utrecht, Leiden and Haarlem often give you the same look with fewer people and simpler permits. We shot Nivea's Crème on the Amsterdam canals and in a styled interior in Haarlem.

Kinderdijk and the Zaanse Schans are the famous ones. There are many quieter mills in the polders of North and South Holland that work just as well on camera.

The North Sea coast runs for over 250 km. The dunes of Schoorl and Bergen, the beaches of Zandvoort and the wide sands of the Wadden islands. Betty Barclay's Dream Away was shot in the dunes of Schoorl.

The Veluwe is the largest nature area in the country, with forests, heath and drifting sand. Good for big outdoor scenes and car commercials.

Rotterdam is the place for skylines, bridges and bold buildings. Amsterdam has the Eye Film Museum, the Zuidas business district and the eastern docklands. Almere and Utrecht add newer neighbourhoods and striking public buildings.

The Port of Rotterdam is the largest in Europe: cranes, containers and wide industrial spaces. Amsterdam's NDSM wharf has a rawer, creative feel.
