The idea

What if Epke could keep practising his moves on the road?

An engineer points at a board that adds Epke, the Tiguan and a rowing machine together

For Volkswagen, we produced an online commercial in the Netherlands featuring the Volkswagen Tiguan and one very special passenger: Epke Zonderland, Olympic champion and world champion gymnast. The campaign was created by Amsterdam agency Achtung! and directed by Joris Dommels.

The workshop

An engineer holds up a steering wheel in front of a wall of sketches
Mechanics in blue overalls take notes while an athlete trains on a rowing machine in the workshop

The idea was as simple as it was fun. With clever staging and playful direction, we brought it to life, mixing top sport with everyday driving. Engineers, sketches, a steering wheel and a rowing machine in the workshop, all to keep an Olympian in shape behind the wheel.

The film

On set

Epke Zonderland doing a handstand on the roof of the Tiguan outside the Sportstad in Heerenveen
A Volkswagen engineer talks at his desk in the workshop with a cut out of Epke behind him
An engineer checks an athlete on a leg press set up between the cars in the workshop
An athlete trains on a chest press while engineers in blue overalls take notes
An engineer explains the plan at a wall of sketches of Epke and the Tiguan
Engineers in blue overalls test a car seat next to a rowing machine

Our role

Our team managed the full production, from locations and crew to the technical setup and logistics, and made sure the shoot went as smoothly as Epke’s routines.
